Biography
Marg
was originally born and raised in Antigua, in the West Indies. She draws
inspiration for her work from her frequent trips back "home"
to Antigua. Much of her Canadian landscapes are based on the beautiful
Haliburton Highlands. As she says, she is fortunate to have her "feet
in two ponds."
She moved with her mother and sister to Canada in 1967. While still
in high school she was awarded a scholarship to the Ontario College
of Art (OCA) where she attended on weekends for several years. She perused
interests other than art, for the next 20 years including a Bachelor
of Science Degree from the University of Toronto and a career in Telecommunications.
About
six years ago, she says "the light bulb on the right side of my
brain turned on again" when her daughter asked her if she could
show her how to draw a tree. She's been "at it" ever since.
She loves to teach children art and has volunteered at the Foxboro Public
School for many years. She also teaches art part-time at the various
schools for the Hastings and Prince Edward Board Of Education and conducts
private art lessons in her studio.
Marg owes a great deal of her artistic success to Marilyn Coulter, a
wonderful renowned local artist in the Belleville area. Marg has also
taken many art workshops with Jack Reid and uses many of his techniques
in her watercolour creations.
Marg currently lives with her husband, Gord, and three lovely daughters
on the Townsend Road in the beautiful countryside north of Belleville
in Ontario, Canada. She owns and operates a successful telecommunication
consulting business, McIntyre Telecom Services.
